Farmington stole the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Mayo on Friday.
The game was tied at one with Farmington batting in the bottom of the sixth when
Sawyer Hoffman singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. The Tigers' pitchers struck out ten, while Prindle sat down ten.
Farmington fired up the offense in the first inning, when
Matt Hinnenkamp singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. In the top of the second inning, Mayo tied things up at one. Carlson grounded out, scoring one run.
Owen Schmidt led Farmington to victory on the hill. Schmidt allowed one hit and one run over six innings, striking out nine.
Tyler Borlik threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Borlik recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Farmington.
Prindle took the loss for Mayo. The pitcher allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out ten.
Farmington saw the ball well today, racking up six hits in the game. Hoffman and Hinnenkamp all managed multiple hits for Farmington. Hinnenkamp and Hoffman each collected two hits to lead the Tigers. Farmington didn't commit a single error in the field. Hinnenkamp had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
Gasner led Mayo with one hit in two at bats. Mayo was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Gasner made the most plays with ten.
