Our Purpose

Purpose of Farmington High School Activities and Athletics:

Farmington High School recognizes the value and importance of athletics programs as an extension of a quality educational experience. Participation in athletics is a privilege and a significant aspect of the overall school experience, contributing to the mental and physical well-being of our learners.

A primary goal of our athletics program is to maximize student participation and involvement. We expect all participants to receive the training and resources needed to compete successfully in athletic contests. While winning remains our goal, it is not the primary purpose of participation. Instead, our program aims to instill and develop life skills essential for future success, including leadership, communication, goal setting, organization, work ethic, self-discipline, perseverance, cooperation, loyalty, integrity, honesty, perspective, teamwork, and relationships.

We are committed to fostering an appreciation and commitment to lifelong physical activity among our student-athletes. Athletics is an extension of the classroom, enhancing the educational experiences of our student-athletes. Interscholastic athletics is not a separate entity; it exists to complement and enrich the academic journey of our students.

Our programs strive to compete at the highest level, with the goal of winning South Suburban Conference, Section, and State Championships. We believe that through competition and the pursuit of excellence, our student-athletes will not only grow in their athletic abilities but also in their personal and academic development.
