Tigers Tested In Top-Ten Showdown With Mounds View

Farmington, Minn. -- The Farmington Tigers wrapped up their regular season with a non-conference victory over the Mounds View Mustangs, a top-ten opponent. The Mustangs entered the game with a 13-6 overall record, holding fourth place in the Suburban East Conference.

Both teams showcased strong pitching performances in Thursday's matchup. Farmington emerged victorious with a 3-1 win. The game began with Mounds View taking an early lead in the top of the first inning, thanks to a ground out by Tyler Guerin that brought in a run.

Farmington quickly responded in the bottom of the third inning. After Tanner Rezny drew a walk, the Tigers capitalized on a wild pitch to score two runs, taking the lead.

Brandon Lund started on the mound for Farmington, delivering a solid three-inning performance. Lund allowed three hits and one run, striking out two and walking none, earning the win. Carter Giesen recorded the save, while Joe Baldus contributed three innings of no-run relief, giving up just one hit and striking out three.

Mounds View's Tyler Guerin also had a commendable outing, pitching four innings, allowing five hits and two runs, striking out three, and walking two. The Mustangs' defense was sharp, committing no errors and turning one double play, with Nate Edelman leading the field with five chances.

Offensively, Joe Larson stood out for Farmington, going 2-for-2 at the plate from the number nine spot. Lund also contributed with a hit and an RBI. For Mounds View, Guerin, Jack Glancey, Hayden Sperbeck, and Chris Then each collected a hit, with Guerin driving in the Mustangs' lone run.

The Tigers' disciplined play and timely hitting secured their final win of the regular season, leaving them poised for the upcoming playoffs.
