LAKEVILLE, Minn. – A walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh ended a tightly contested South Suburban Conference matchup as the Farmington Tigers fell 6-5 to Lakeville North on Wednesday night at Lakeville North High School. With the loss, Farmington drops to 8-3 overall and 7-2 in SSC play, sliding into third place in the standings.
RECAP
Farmington jumped on the board early with two runs in the top of the first, capitalizing on a Lakeville North error and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Brodie Gibart. The Panthers responded in the home half of the inning with two runs of their own to tie the game, highlighted by a run-scoring single from Teddy Juaire.
Lakeville North grabbed a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second thanks to a two-run double by Logan Campbell. The Tigers countered in the top of the third with a three-run frame to reclaim the lead, 5-4. Brandon Lund drove in a run with a double down the line and Gibart followed with an RBI single.
The score held until the seventh, when Lakeville North put two runners on with two outs. Ethan Mrnak delivered the deciding blow with a two-run double to left to end the game in walk-off fashion.
