Farmington High School

Coach Holmes is born and raised in Farmington and graduated as Farmington’s Male Athlete of the Year as a four-sport letter winner in Cross Country, Hockey, Tennis, and Golf.

Holmes attended the University of MN-Duluth for undergrad, has a master’s degree from St. Mary’s University, and has completed his post master’s credits at Colorado State Pueblo. Coach Holmes has been teaching high school in Farmington since 2004 and has been coaching high school boys’ and girls’ varsity hockey in Lakeville and Farmington since 2003. Coach Holmes took over the Head Boys’ Golf job in 2011.

Coach Holmes says he teaches, coaches, and volunteers, to help individuals find, grow, and mature with their individual talents and support those individuals in networking those talents into a larger team, and community puzzle so we can accomplish meaningful and next level brilliances when working together.

• 15th Year as the Head Coach for Farmington Girls High School Hockey
• 5 State Tournament Appearances as a Head Coach (2 as Assistant Boys Coach in Lakeville)
• Head Coach in 8 Section 1AA Title Games
• 4 conference championships as Head Coach (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012)
• 4-Time Section 1AA Head Coach of the Year (2008, 2019, 2020, 2021)
• USA Hockey Level 5 Master Coach/Instructor
• USA Hockey and MN Hockey High Performance Scout and Evaluator
• MSHSL State Tournament All-Tournament Team Committee Member
• Lead Instructor and Skating Coach for Slapshots LLC Summer Elite Sessions
• Farmington Youth Hockey Board Member and Player/Coach Development Committee Member
• High School Hockey Hobey Baker Character Award Nominator
• Voting member for Ms. Hockey selection committee
• Voting member for Goalie of the year selection committee
• Has been a Head and Assistant Coach for Youth Hockey encompassing all of Mites through Bantams
