Farmington High School

Tom Hart has been a Social Studies teacher at Farmington HS since 1997.  His Farmington coaching career began as the Assistant Girls’ Basketball coach moving to Head Girls’ Basketball Coach from 1998-2001.  Mr. Hart began coaching Track & Field in 1998 as an assistant coach, becoming the Girls’ Head Coach in 2001, a role he continues to hold.    During this time, he has led the Tigers to numerous Conference Runner Up and Section Championship finishes along with a second place at the 2017 MN State Track Meet.  Through the 2023 season, Coach Hart has coached 36 Individual Conference Champions, 42 Individual Section Champions and 4  Individual State Champions.  Coach Hart also was assistant Cross County Coach from2011 to 2017.

Prior to joining the Farmington staff, Mr. Hart taught Social Studies and was the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Medford HS in Medford, MN from 1994-1997.  Before moving to Minnesota, Mr. Hart was an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Cascade HS in Cascade, IA from 1991-1994.  During his tenure, Cascade qualified for their first ever Iowa State Basketball tournament appearance in the 1992-93 season.

Mr. Hart graduated from Luther College in1991 where he majored in History and Education with a Coaching Minor. He was on both the Basketball and Track & Field teams.  

Mr. Hart is a 1987 graduate from West Delaware High School in Manchester IA.  During high school he was on the varsity Basketball, Cross Country and Track & Field teams along with playing football and leading the drum line for the West Delaware Marching Band.
