Transformational Purpose Statement: I coach to help my athletes and teams improve their skills, prepare them for life beyond high school sports, and to share my love for sport, competition, and the game of volleyball. I want my athletes to become strong young men/women who will be honest, respectful, and responsible citizens that live their lives with courage, perseverance, and integrity.
Coach Woody is entering his 29th season as a high school volleyball coach; 5 years in Nebraska and starting his 24th year at Farmington High School. He is entering his 17th year as the Farmington Head Volleyball Coach.
In addition to coaching volleyball, Woody has taught both 4th and 5th grade in Farmington for 23 years. He spent his first 10 years were at Akin Road elementary and the last 13 years at Riverview Elementary school where he is currently assigned. Woody has also spent about 12 years coaching in both the Boys and Girls Basketball programs as well as the Track and Field program where he is currently the Pole Vault coach.
In 2009, Coach Woody led the Farmington Volleyball team to the Section 1AAA Championship, the State Tournament and was named Section Coach of the Year.
Coach Woody participated in basketball and track at Bellevue West High School in Nebraska where he participated in the 1991 State Championship Basketball game and in the 1989, 1990 and 1991 State Track Meets. He went on to play basketball at Iowa Western before switching over to playing and coaching volleyball.
