Transformational Purpose Statement: I coach because I love competition and love to compete and I want to prepare our student-athletes for competition in HS, college, and life after college and want our student-athletes to be able to embrace challenges and believe they can accomplish anything.
Coach Aaron Johnson is a 1996 graduate of Ludington High School (Ludington, MI) and graduated from Western Michigan University in 2001. While attending WMU Coach Johnson played for the varsity soccer team that competed in one of the best D 1 conferences in the country, the Mid American Conference. Johnson graduated from WMU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education. After college, Johnson taught in London, England for a year and also played soccer for the West Michigan Explosion of the USL. Eventually Johnson moved to Ft. Myers/Estero, Florida where he taught 4th grade, 5th grade, HS math, and was a middle school athletic director in his 13 years there. He also coached middle school basketball, soccer, and coached club soccer for Naples Youth soccer and the Florida Fire Juniors. Johnson was also the varsity girls’ soccer coach at Estero HS (FL) where his 2 year record was 34-8-6. In 2015 Coach Johnson received his Masters Degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University.
Coach Johnson is now entering his 7th season as the varsity girls’ soccer coach at FHS. In Coach Johnson’s 2nd season at FHS they reached the Section Finals where they lost to highly ranked Lakeville North. The 2019 FHS girls’ team went 9-7-2 with a conference record of 3-4-2 and a section record of 5-2. The 2019 FHS team was the first FHS girls’ soccer team in school history that played in the SSC to finish the season with a winning record. The 2019 team also finished their season with a 0.7 goals allowed average and their overall team GPA was over a 3.5. The 2020 FHS girls team also finished above .500 on the season finishing 5-4-4 on the season and had a team GPA of over 3.75. In the fall of 2021 Coach Johnson’s Tigers made it to the section final for the 2nd time in his 6 seasons where they lost to state ranked LN. The Tigers finished 10-7-2 in 2021.
The 2022-2023 school year will be Coach Johnson’s 7th year teaching in Farmington where he has been a physical education teacher at North Trail Elementary School. Coach Johnson’s wife Mali (Molly) is an ECSE teacher in Farmington. The Johnson’s have 3 children Avery (13), Landon (10), and Adalyn (8) who all attend Farmington schools.
