Boys Soccer Season Ends In Section Quarterfinal Match

New Prague, Minn. -- In a thrilling Section 1 AAA boys soccer tournament matchup, the Farmington Tigers faced off against the New Prague Trojans on a chilly autumn night. The stakes were high as both teams vied for a spot in the next round of the tournament. Farmington, seeded as the #5 team, entered enemy territory as they squared off against the #4 seeded New Prague Trojans, the home team.

The first half of the game saw both teams battling, but it was New Prague who managed to break the deadlock. With the wind cutting through the field, a pivotal moment came when the Trojans were awarded a penalty kick (PK). The Trojans would find the back of the net and earn the 1-0 lead.

The Tigers' perseverance paid off in the second half when they too were awarded a penalty kick, tying the game 1-1.

As the regulation time drew to a close, neither team could break the deadlock. Overtime was called, and even the extra time couldn't produce a winner, and the score remained tied at 1-1.

The tension and excitement escalated as the game entered the penalty shootout. In the end, it was the New Prague Trojans who held their nerve, emerging victorious in the penalty shootout. With the final score of 2-1 in favor of the Trojans, Farmington's effort came up just short.

As the final whistle blew, the Farmington Tigers concluded their 2023 season.

Despite the loss, they can hold their heads high, finishing the season with a record of 7-6-4 overall and an impressive 4-1-4 in the South Suburban Conference.
