FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers boys soccer team held a first-half lead on Thursday night but came up short in a 2-1 loss to Shakopee at Tiger Stadium. The South Suburban Conference match was played in steady rain, adding an extra layer of challenge to the competitive contest.

Farmington struck first, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime after AJ Vinar found the back of the net in the opening 40 minutes. The Tigers maintained solid defensive shape in the early going and created several chances through the midfield.
Shakopee responded in the second half, converting twice to turn the one-goal deficit into a 2-1 advantage. The Tigers continued to push forward in the closing minutes but were unable to find the equalizer.
Farmington finished with seven shots, 237 total passes, and a 48.6% share of possession. Defensively, the Tigers earned 12 free kicks and limited the Sabers to just two corners.

Farmington travels to Eastview on Monday, September 8, for a South Suburban Conference matchup against the Lightning. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
