FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers boys soccer team fell to the Prior Lake Lakers 3-1 on Monday night, with all of Prior Lake's goals coming off penalty kicks in the second half. Despite an early lead, the Tigers were unable to hold on and now look ahead to their final regular-season game.
RECAP
Farmington opened the scoring at 30:48 in the first half, as Kidus Getachew found the back of the net. The goal was set up by Mua Okongo, who made a strong run deep into Laker territory before sending a cross towards the front of the net. A brief save attempt by the Prior Lake keeper deflected the ball right to Getachew, who calmly put it away to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Farmington carried their advantage into halftime, but the momentum shifted dramatically in the second half due to a series of penalty kicks awarded to Prior Lake. The Lakers leveled the score at 34:50 with their first PK, then quickly took the lead at 34:25 with a second PK conversion. The third and final penalty kick came at 21:16, giving the Lakers a 3-1 lead.
Despite some promising runs late in the game, Farmington could not find the net again and fell to the Lakers in a tough road contest.
