Baseball Starts Season With Comeback Victory Over South

Farmington, Minn. -- In the 2024 season opener between the Farmington Tigers and the Lakeville South Cougars, the two teams would need extra innings to settle the score.

The Cougars got off to a commanding start, surging to an 8-0 lead by the second inning. However, the Tigers refused to concede defeat, mounting a remarkable comeback.

Lakeville South displayed their offensive prowess early, with Walker's single driving in the opening run in the top of the first inning. The Cougars continued to press, building a substantial lead through hits and well-timed plays. By the end of the second inning, they held an imposing 8-0 advantage.

Yet, the Tigers found their stride, igniting a stunning rally that would define the contest. In the bottom of the third inning, they began chipping away at the deficit. Dalton Kesti's double sparked the Farmington offense, initiating a sequence of hits that brought the score to 8-7 by the end of the inning.

The tension escalated as both teams battled fiercely to gain the upper hand. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Farmington leveled the score at 8-8 with a sacrifice fly from Brandon Lund, setting the stage for an intense finish.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, with the game hanging in the balance, Lund delivered once again, smashing a clutch double that drove in the winning run. The Tigers completed their extraordinary comeback, clinching a dramatic 9-8 victory in extra innings.
