Farmington, Minn. -- In a big SSC matchup, the Tigers extended their unbeaten streak to 7-0 with a 5-0 shutout victory over the Prior Lake Lakers. The win solidifies the Tigers' position at the summit of the South Suburban Conference standings.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Tigers wasted no time getting on the board. With runners in scoring position, Marshall Gordon stepped up to the plate and delivered a clutch single, driving in Kelin Rasmussen and Dalton Kesti to put the Tigers ahead 2-0.
Maintaining their offensive pressure, the Tigers added to their lead in the bottom of the 4th inning. With two outs on the board, Gordon executed a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Rasmussen to cross the plate and extending the Tigers' lead to 3-0.
The Tigers' relentless offensive pressure continued in the bottom of the 5th inning, further widening the gap on the scoreboard. Tanner Rezny stepped up with a timely single, driving in both Kesti and Brandon Lund, while Josh Berreth advanced to second, pushing the Tigers' lead to an insurmountable 5-0 advantage.
On the defensive front, pitcher Lund delivered a masterful performance on the mound, stifling the Lakers' offense with precision pitching. Lund tossed 6 innings of stellar baseball, limiting the Lakers to just two hits while tallying an impressive 7 strikeouts, ultimately securing the win for the Tigers.
