Baseball Knocks Off Rochester Mayo 3-2

Farmington, Minn. -- In a thrilling non-conference showdown between the Rochester Mayo Spartans and the Farmington Tigers, it was the Tigers who emerged victorious with a 3-2 win.

The game remained deadlocked at two apiece until the bottom of the sixth inning when Dalton Kesti of Farmington delivered a clutch single, bringing in the decisive run. Both teams showcased strong pitching performances, with Farmington's hurlers tallying five strikeouts and Mayo's pitchers recording four.

Mayo struck first in the fourth inning, courtesy of Ethan Labrash's RBI single. Farmington responded swiftly in the bottom of the fourth, with Josh Berreth's single knotting the score at one apiece. Mayo edged ahead again in the fifth inning, but Farmington quickly equalized thanks to a Mayo error. Brodie Gibart earned the win for Farmington, delivering a solid seven-inning performance on the mound, allowing only two hits and one earned run while striking out five.

Isaac Peterson started on the mound for Mayo, conceding three hits and three runs (one earned) over six innings, with four strikeouts. Berreth and Kesti were instrumental in Farmington's offense, each driving in a run. Berreth, Trevor Rasmusson, and Kesti contributed one hit each for the Tigers.

Labrash and Kyle Leopold collected hits for Mayo, with Carson Beavers and Labrash driving in their two runs.

With this victory, Farmington improves to an impressive 14-1 record, while Mayo's season record falls to 8-9.
