NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- In their season opener on Thursday, August 22, the Farmington Tigers Boys Soccer team faced off against the Northfield Raiders at Northfield High School's Memorial Field.
The Tigers started strong, dominating the first half and earning a penalty kick thanks to
Alek Silenko's efforts. Despite outshooting the Raiders 14-3, the Tigers found themselves trailing 1-0 after a Northfield corner resulted in the game's only goal.
The second half saw Farmington continuing to apply relentless pressure, keeping the ball primarily in the attacking half. However, despite their best efforts and maintaining control of the game's flow, the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net, ultimately falling 1-0.
Newcomers Luke Wegwerth, playing as a center defender, and AJ Vinar, taking on the role of a wide forward, both delivered strong performances, showcasing their abilities in their respective positions. Despite the loss, the Tigers displayed a solid foundation, emphasizing possession and control throughout the match.
