FARMINGTON, Minn. -- The Farmington Tigers boys soccer team suffered another narrow defeat, falling 1-0 to the Rochester Century Panthers on August 27 at Tiger Stadium.
With this loss, the Tigers dropped to 0-3 on the season, despite showing resilience and keeping the game close against a strong Panthers side.
Farmington faced an uphill battle throughout the match, with Century dominating possession 56.9% to 43.1% and outshooting the Tigers 22-6. The Panthers kept the pressure on Farmington's defense, tallying 29 crosses and 10 corner kicks, compared to the Tigers' 7 crosses and 2 corners. Century's persistent attacking paid off with the game's only goal, while Farmington struggled to convert opportunities on their end.
Despite the result, the Tigers showed moments of solid play, completing 159 of their 256 passes for a 62% success rate, slightly trailing Century's 66%.
Farmington's defense worked hard to limit the damage, with notable contributions from Luke Wegwerth and AJ Vinar in defensive roles. However, the Tigers were unable to break down Century's organized defense, managing just six shots on goal throughout the match.
