FARMINGTON, Minn. – In a tightly contested South Suburban Conference matchup at Tiger Field on Wednesday night, the Farmington Tigers came up just short, falling 2-1 to Shakopee in a game dominated by pitching and defense. The loss is the first in SSC play for the Tigers, who now sit at 7-2 overall and 6-1 in conference action.
RECAP
Both teams struggled to generate offense, with strong performances from each starting pitcher setting the tone. Shakopee struck first in the top of the third when Ryder Peace delivered a sacrifice fly to put the Sabers up 1-0. They added what would be the decisive run in the fifth inning.
Farmington answered in the bottom of the fifth, pushing across a run on an RBI from Mikhi Chant, but the Tigers couldn't capitalize further, stranding runners and leaving the tying run on base in the final innings.
Brandon Lund was efficient on the mound for Farmington, tossing 4.2 innings and allowing two runs—only one of them earned—on six hits. He struck out five and walked just one in a tough-luck loss.
At the plate, Isaiah Bramer and Brodie Gibart each collected two hits to lead the Tigers' offense, while Chant drove in the team's lone run. Despite several opportunities, Farmington was held to just five hits overall and struggled to solve Shakopee starter Carson Schroeder, who went six innings allowing only one unearned run.
