FARMINGTON, Minn -- The FHS Boys Tennis team faced a competitive stretch with multiple matches over the past week, gaining valuable experience against strong programs.
April 26 — Mankato East 5, Farmington 2
The Tigers earned two victories in doubles play:
• #1 Doubles: Noah Batterman (11) / Riley Watson (10) def. Ibrahim Ibrahim / Vaughn Wernsing — 6-1, 6-1
• #2 Doubles: Josh Stoneburg (12) / Ben Monson (11) def. Jon Bergquist / Sidney Shanafelt — 1-6, 6-4, 0-0 (8)
In singles play, Mankato East swept all four matches:
• #1 Singles: Zach Asfaw def. Spencer Corrigan (10) — 6-1, 6-2
• #2 Singles: Siale (Jace) Drescher-Tonga def. Lucas Deplazes (10) — 6-0, 6-2
• #3 Singles: Jack Julian def. Parker Swanson (9) — 6-1, 6-0
• #4 Singles: Marshall Sipe def. Evan Archer (8) — 6-0, 6-0
April 26 — Hill Murray School 7, Farmington 0
Later in the day, Hill Murray swept all singles and doubles matches to take the dual 7-0.
April 29 — Apple Valley 6, Farmington 0
Farmington battled in several close contests, including a tight #1 Doubles match:
• #1 Doubles: Noah Batterman (11) / Riley Watson (10) fell to Isaiah Rutten / Tristin Erke — 3-6, 7-5, 1-0
• #2 Doubles: Josh Stoneburg (12) / Aiden Harer (11) fell to Brayden Niznick / Nathan Soliday-Foster — 6-4, 0-6, 1-0
Apple Valley swept singles play:
• #1 Singles: Charlie Nelson def. Spencer Corrigan (10) — 6-0, 6-0
• #2 Singles: Louis Gustafson def. Trystan McEntee (10) — 6-0, 6-0
• #3 Singles: Stanley Haakenson def. Parker Swanson (9) — 6-0, 6-0
• #4 Singles: Will Siebenaler def. Evan Archer (8) — 6-0, 6-0
April 30 — Burnsville 7, Farmington 0
Burnsville took all matches in straight sets as the Tigers wrapped up a demanding stretch of play.
Despite the tough results, Farmington continues to compete hard and gain valuable match experience throughout its lineup. The doubles teams, in particular, showed strong resilience and teamwork during closely contested matches.
