FARMINGTON, Minn. – A six-run second inning proved to be the difference as No. 1 seeded Farmington defeated No. 4 seed Lakeville South 9-3 in the Section 1AAAA baseball quarterfinals on Wednesday night at Dodge Middle School's Tiger 1 Field.
RECAP
After a scoreless first inning, Farmington broke things open in the second with a six-run outburst. The Tigers capitalized on a wild pitch to score the first run before Ben Keppler ripped a double to drive in another. Marshall Gordon and Brody Rasmussen each drew bases-loaded walks to push the lead to 4-0, and Jacob Traynor capped the rally with a two-run single.
Lakeville South got on the board with two runs in the fourth, but Farmington added three more over the next two innings to keep the Cougars at bay. The Tigers tallied 10 hits in the win, drew seven walks, and played error-free defense, including turning a double play.
Brandon Lund earned the win on the mound, throwing four innings while striking out six and allowing two runs on three hits. Ethan Hagman provided a key relief effort with two scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three.

Farmington advances to the Section 1AAAA semifinals and will face No. 7 seed Rochester Century on Saturday, May 31. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. at Dundas Memorial Park.
