FARMINGTON, Minn. – The No. 2 seeded Farmington Tigers girls lacrosse team opened postseason play in emphatic fashion, overwhelming No. 7 seed Lakeville North 23-3 in a Section 1 quarterfinal on Wednesday evening at Farmington High School.
RECAP
Farmington set the tone early with a dominant 12-goal first quarter and never looked back. The Tigers controlled possession from the opening draw, scoring at will while limiting the Panthers' offensive opportunities. Farmington led 14-2 at halftime and added nine more goals in the second half to close out the victory.
The Tigers showcased their offensive depth, with nine different players recording at least one point. Jaida Steffes led the way with a game-high 11 points, scoring seven goals and dishing out four assists. Riley Wicklund followed with a nine-point performance, netting four goals and contributing five assists.
Farmington totaled 32 shots on goal, and the defense held strong behind goalie Lily Blanchard, who made five saves on eight shots for a .625 save percentage. The Tigers also collected 16 ground balls and kept Lakeville North scoreless in two of the four quarters.
