FARMINGTON, Minn. – The No. 2 seeded Farmington Tigers girls lacrosse team is headed to the Section 1A championship game after a dominant 19-5 victory over No. 3 seed Southwest Christian/Jordan/Mayer Lutheran on Friday evening. The Tigers took control early and never let up in front of a home crowd at Farmington High School.
RECAP
Farmington opened the game with a commanding 7-0 lead in the first quarter and carried a 12-1 advantage into halftime. Behind strong ball movement and an aggressive attack, the Tigers controlled possession and kept the pressure on throughout, finishing the game with 34 shots on goal.
The offense was paced by Jaida Steffes and Riley Wicklund, who each tallied nine points. Steffes netted six goals and dished out three assists, while Wicklund added five goals and four assists. Lucy Warner contributed four goals, and Amanda Kubes chipped in with two goals and an assist.
On the defensive end, Lily Blanchard turned in a standout performance in goal, recording 14 saves on 19 shots for a .737 save percentage. Farmington also controlled the ground ball battle, collecting 24 to the Stars' eight.

Farmington advances to the Section 1A championship game and will face No. 1 seed Lakeville South on Tuesday, June 3. The title matchup is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Lakeville South High School.
