FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls tennis team came up short against Lakeville South on Thursday evening, dropping a 5-1 decision in a South Suburban Conference matchup that was cut short due to lightning. The match was halted before No. 2 singles could be completed, with Farmington's Addy Burggaaff trailing 1-6, 4-5 (30-0) at the time play was stopped.
RECAP
Farmington's lone win of the evening came at No. 4 singles, where Kylie Goodreau was leading 3-1 before her opponent retired. Maddie Johnson and Reagan Donahue battled at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, but both were defeated in straight sets by strong Cougar opponents.
In doubles action, the Tigers were swept across all three lines. Eliana Elvestad and Kate Morehead fell 6-0, 6-0 at the top spot, while Payton Blom and Anna Greenlee dropped a 6-2, 6-1 result at No. 2. Audrey Sosinski and Ivy Johnson competed at No. 3 doubles, but were also edged out by a 6-2, 6-1 scoreline.
The result officially goes down as a 5-1 loss for the Tigers due to the incomplete No. 2 singles match, which was in the middle of a competitive second set when the match was called due to inclement weather.
UP NEXT
