APPLE VALLEY, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls tennis team battled in several close matches but ultimately fell 5-2 to the Apple Valley Eagles on Thursday afternoon in South Suburban Conference play at Apple Valley High School.
RECAP
Farmington earned a hard-fought singles win at the No. 1 position, where Maddie Johnson outlasted her opponent in a three-set battle, winning 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 in the match tiebreaker. Sadie Spolarich added the second point for the Tigers at No. 2 singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 straight-sets victory.
Despite those two wins, the Eagles claimed the remaining matches. At No. 3 singles, Farmington's Addy Burggraaff pushed her opponent to the brink before falling 7-5, 6-4. In doubles, all three Tiger pairs put together competitive stretches, but Apple Valley came away with straight-set wins across the board.
