Farmington, Minn. - The Farmington Tigers baseball squad watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-3 loss to Apple Valley on Friday. The Eagles scored on a double by Ethan Gores, a single by Spencer Klein, and a double by Eli Schlicting in the second inning.
Farmington struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Apple Valley, giving up nine runs.
Apple Valley pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Gores doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Klein singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Schlicting doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
Joe O'Brien got the start for Apple Valley.The bulldog lasted three innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one.
Owen Schmidt started the game for the Tigers. The righthander went five innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking zero.
Dillon Carlson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Dylan McClure, Carlson, and
Sawyer Hoffman all had one hit to lead Farmington.
Apple Valley collected eight hits. Miles Jensen, Klein, and Schlicting each had multiple hits for the Eagles.
