Farmington, Minn. - Farmington Baseball fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-2 loss to Lakeville North Varsity Panthers on Wednesday.
Lakeville North took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
The Tigers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Lakeville North, giving up eight runs.
The Panthers opened up scoring in the second inning, when Tanner Recchio's sac fly scored one run for North.
The Panthers scored six runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Lakeville North came thanks to singles by Kutter Herzig and James Fager, a walk by Will Wareham, and by Cal Schmelzle.
Jackson Renz led things off on the mound for North. Renz allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out seven.
Owen Schmidt led things off on the hill for Farmington. The righthander allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out five.
Dylan McClure and
Kobe Young entered the game as relief, throwing three innings and one inning respectively.
Dillon Carlson went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits.
Herzig led Lakeville North with three hits in three at bats. The Panthers didn't commit a single error in the field. Wareham had 15 chances in the field, the most on the team.
