Jon Graff Becomes Winningest Head Baseball Coach in Farmington High School History

Farmington, Minn. - Farmington High School Head Baseball Coach, Jon Graff, became the winningest coach in the history of the FHS baseball program on Thursday night when the Farmington Tigers defeated the Prior Lake Lakers by a score of 3-0.
 
The win was the 120th victory as head coach for Graff surpassing former head coach, and current assistant coach, Mike Winters at 119 wins.
 
"It's not about me, it's about you guys and the guys that came before you," said Graff when addressing his team after the game.
 
The win keeps the Tigers in the hunt for their second-straight South Suburban Conference championship. The Tigers are 11-6, 10-5 SSC on the season with three games remaining on the regular season schedule.
 
Cyrus Elrod didn't allow a single run against the Lakers on Thursday night, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Tigers to victory.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Elrod struck out four, while Prior Lake pitchers sat down five.

Farmington got on the board in the first inning when Luke Walton drove in one when he singled.

Elrod earned the victory on the mound for Farmington. The hurler went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out four.

Farmington saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Sawyer Hoffman and Walton all managed multiple hits for the Tigers. Walton and Hoffman each managed two hits to lead Farmington.
 
Following the victory, the Tigers met Coach Graff with a victory Gatorade bath on the infield.
 
"Coach Graff is very passionate about the game and his players, that is what makes him a great coach. Congratulations on having the most wins in Farmington history", said Senior Sawyer Hoffman.
 
Up Next
The Tigers return home on Monday, May 22 for a battle with the Lakeville South Cougars. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm at Tiger 1.

All About Coach Graff

Coach Graff graduated from Northfield High School in 1992 where he played football, baseball and basketball.
 
Graff began his coaching career at 15 years old coaching the K-8 baseball program in Northfield. Coach Graff eventually became the supervisor of the football, baseball and basketball programs for the Northfield Parks and Recreation Department.
 
After graduating from St. Olaf College in 1996, Graff started teaching and coaching in Farmington in 1997. He currently teaches US and AP US History.
 
At Farmington, Graff has coached football, soccer, girls basketball, boys basketball and baseball.
 
After serving as a longtime assistant baseball coach, Graff became the head coach in the 2013-2014 school year.
 
Tiger Baseball has gone on to win the Class AAAA State Championship in 2021, the South Suburban Conference Championship in 2022 and were runners-up in the Class AAAA State Championship in 2022.
 
Tiger Baseball sees many players go on to play college baseball, with a team high 15 graduates from the class of 2022 that went on to play at various levels.
 
Coach Graff has been honored with the 2021 AAAA Coach of the Year Award, 2021 AAAA Championship Coach of the Year Award, and the 2021 and 2022 Class AAAA Section 1 Coach of the Year Awards.
