Farmington, Minn. - Farmington Baseball lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat to Lakeville South on Monday.
The game was tied at two with South batting in the top of the ninth when Nathan Matiak doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Farmington lost despite out-hitting the Cougars ten to eight.
The Tigers got things started in the first inning.
Luke Walton doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Lakeville South evened things up at two in the top of the seventh inning. Cyrus Elrod's wild pitch allowed one run to score for the Cougars.
Tate Marland was on the pitcher's mound for South. The pitcher surrendered two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out seven.
Sawyer Hoffman toed the rubber for Farmington. Hoffman lasted six innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out seven. Elrod threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Farmington racked up ten hits.
Dillon Carlson and Hoffman all managed multiple hits for the Tigers. Carlson went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Farmington in hits.
Lakeville South collected eight hits on the day. Kenny Erickson, Ian Segna, and Matiak all collected multiple hits for the Cougars.
