Lakeville, Minn. - It came down to the last play, but Farmington was on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat to Lakeville South on Wednesday.
The game was tied at three with South batting in the bottom of the eighth when Tate Marland's sac fly scored one run.
Farmington lost despite out-hitting Lakeville South eight to six.
The Tigers fired up the offense in the first inning, when
Tanner Rezny singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lakeville South tied things up at three. The Cougars scored two runs when Ian Segna homered.
Segna led things off on the mound for Lakeville South. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out two.
Owen Schmidt toed the rubber for Farmington. Schmidt allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Cyrus Elrod threw two-thirds of an inning in relief.
