What IS a One Act Play?
A one-act play is a dramatic work that consists of a single act or scene, typically lasting anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes, in our productions for competition in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), productions cannot exceed 35 minutes. Unlike full-length plays, which are divided into multiple acts, a one-act play is self-contained and tells a complete story within its limited duration. These plays often focus on a single theme, idea, or conflict and are designed to be performed without an intermission. Due to their shorter length, one-act plays are commonly used in festivals, competitions, and showcases. They provide a concise and focused experience for both performers and audiences.

One-act plays can explore a wide range of genres, themes, and styles, making them versatile for various creative expressions. They may feature intense character development, thought-provoking plots, or comedic elements, depending on the playwright's intentions.

After the home performance on January 19, the One Act Play takes their show to the South Suburban Conference Festival at Burnsville High School, January 20 at 12:30 pm. They will be adjudicated by Michelle Myers Berg, Raymond Berg, and Beth Gilleland.

Please join the FHS Theater Department on Friday, January 19 at 7:00 pm at the Boeckman Middle School Auditorium. Admission is FREE and open to the public. See you there!
