Hopkins, Minn. -- In the inaugural match of the 2024 season, the Farmington High School girls' lacrosse team faced off against the Blake Bears in a non-conference clash that showcased a rollercoaster of momentum shifts. Despite a promising start, the Tigers ultimately fell short to the Bears with a final score of 9-10 in sudden death overtime.
In the early stages of the game, Farmington displayed dominance on the field, surging to a commanding lead of five goals midway through the match. Amara Zens, Lucy Warner, Riley Wicklund, and Charlotte Mahowald contributed to the Tigers' offensive efforts, finding the back of the net with precision and determination.
However, the Bears refused to back down, demonstrating resilience and tenacity as they clawed their way back into contention. With a relentless offensive onslaught and strategic defensive adjustments, Blake gradually narrowed the deficit, steadily closing the gap between the two teams.
Blake knotted the game in the final few minutes, sending the game to OT where the Bears escaped with a win.
