OWATONNA, Minn. – The Farmington girls swimming and diving team delivered a complete team effort over the weekend at the 2025 Section 1AA true team meet, earning a 2nd-place overall finish and qualifying for the MSHSCA true team state meet. The Tigers totaled 767 points to place second among all section competitors and advance to the season's premier team-scoring championship event.
Meet highlights
Farmington opened the meet strong in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of Micaela Cardoza, Taylor Gergen, Alyssa Bower, and Mikaela Udell finishing 2nd in 1:58.31. All three Tiger relays finished in the top three of their respective events.
In individual events, Cardoza (2:00.88) earned a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle and later added a 4th-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:06.32). Bower swam to a 7th-place finish in the 200 IM and placed 3rd in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:33.68.
Taylor Gergen led the Tigers in both of her specialty events, placing 3rd in the 100 butterfly (1:01.78) and winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.92. Parker Risch added valuable points with a 5th-place finish in the 200 IM and a 3rd-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
Freshman Claire Duellman was a top sprinter for Farmington, placing 3rd in the 50 freestyle (26.54) and 5th in the 100 freestyle (59.95). She teamed up with Akolly, Warmka, and Risch to place 3rd in the 200 freestyle relay. Udell added a strong 2nd-place finish in the 100 freestyle (56.60) and was 3rd in the 100 backstroke (1:04.73).
In diving, Brooke Kunz placed 3rd overall with a score of 261.85. Claire Gergen followed closely in 5th (256.25), and Reagan Benedict added depth to the lineup with a top-10 finish.
The meet closed with a fast 400 freestyle relay effort from Cardoza, Bower, Udell, and Gergen, who placed 2nd in 3:46.68 to secure Farmington's spot at the state meet.

The Tigers advance to the 2025 MSHSCA 1AA true team state meet, held Wednesday, October 15 and Thursday, October 16 at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. Racing begins at 6:00 p.m. on both nights.
