FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers hosted the non-conference Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars on Thursday, April 10th, in a gritty four-set showdown. Jefferson entered the match 2-1, with their loss coming against top-ranked Eden Prairie, and they brought plenty of size and firepower to the court.
Despite the Jaguars' physical presence, the Tigers embraced a scrappy style of play and stunned the visitors in an exhilarating opening set. Farmington edged out Jefferson 27-25 in a thrilling back-and-forth battle.
In set two, the Tigers had multiple chances to take a commanding 2-0 lead, but missed opportunities allowed Jefferson to regroup and sneak away with a narrow 25-23 win.
Set three saw a surge from TJ Martin and Nick Thompson, who ignited the offense with a series of key kills. Still, Jefferson pulled ahead late, forcing a Tiger timeout at 22-19. A clutch kill by Martin followed by a crafty two-handed dump from Isaac Albrecht brought Farmington within one at 23-22. But after a timeout, the Jaguars held firm, sealing the set 25-23 with a clean side-out.
With momentum on their side, Jefferson capitalized early in the fourth. The Tigers struggled to find rhythm in a few tough rotations, and the Jaguars closed out the match with a decisive 25-16 win.
