FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers Girls Lacrosse team continued their strong start to the 2025 season with a 9-5 victory over the Academy of Holy Angels on Monday night at Tiger Stadium. Powered by another standout performance from Riley Wicklund and Jaida Steffes, the Tigers controlled the tempo early and never trailed after taking the lead midway through the first quarter.
RECAP
Holy Angels opened the scoring, but Farmington responded quickly and with authority. At the 9:10 mark of the first quarter, Jaida Steffes found the net off a feed from Wicklund to tie the game. Just two minutes later, Steffes scored again, this time on another assist from Wicklund, to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Wicklund followed with a pair of goals—one unassisted and one assisted by Steffes—and Amanda Kubes added another to cap off a five-goal first quarter. Holy Angels added one more to make it 5-2 after the opening frame.
The Stars cut the deficit to 5-3 early in the second, but Wicklund answered with her third goal of the night, scoring unassisted to send the Tigers into halftime up 6-3.
In the third quarter, Wicklund added another goal—her fifth of the night—off a setup from Steffes. Holy Angels strung together back-to-back goals to close the gap to 7-5, but Steffes quickly responded with her third goal of the evening, assisted by Wicklund, to swing momentum back in Farmington's favor.
The only goal in the fourth quarter came from Wicklund, who capped off her six-point night with another unassisted tally to seal the 9-5 victory.
