LAKEVILLE, Minn. – Fresh off a high-intensity weekend, the Farmington Tigers hit the road to take on Lakeville North, looking to notch their second straight South Suburban Conference win. The Panthers, still searching for their first victory, were ready to battle on their home court.
The Tigers came out firing in set one, jumping to a 10-5 lead behind early kills from Brayden Kemmet and Braden Woody. TJ Martin joined the attack soon after, complementing Kemmet's dominance through the middle. The Tigers surged to an 18-10 advantage, forcing a Lakeville North timeout. A few missed serves gave the Panthers a chance to claw back, but Kemmet shut the door with a monster block to close out a 25-18 set win.
Set two belonged to Isaac Albrecht. The junior setter controlled the tempo, dishing out precise sets while sneaking in a couple of well-timed dumps. He also delivered a key block late in the set. Lakeville North hurt themselves with three missed serves in the final stretch, setting up Nick Thompson to seal the deal with a confident ace. Farmington took the set 25-14 and a 2-0 match lead.
The Panthers came out swinging in set three, grabbing an early 3-1 lead and putting some pressure on the Tigers. The teams traded points through the middle of the set, staying neck-and-neck from 13-all to 19-all. That's when Andrew Kaliev took over—slamming a kill and following it up with back-to-back aces to give Farmington a 22-19 lead and force a North timeout.
Lakeville wasn't done yet. The Panthers ramped up the serving pressure, nearly taking the Tigers off the court and tying the set at 22. But Farmington stayed composed. TJ Martin crushed a kill, Kemmet followed with a clutch block, and that left the Tigers exactly where they wanted to be—with Kayden "The Ace" Chant at the service line.
Chant lived up to the name, ripping a seam serve that the Panthers couldn't handle, clinching the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
