LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The Tigers resumed conference and section play against Lakeville South, a familiar opponent they briefly faced during a preseason scrimmage. With a few high-caliber standout Cougars on their scouting report, Farmington entered the match prepared for a battle.
Set one saw Lakeville South's outside hitters apply early pressure, building a 15-10 lead. While the Tigers kept pace point-for-point, a string of missed serves prevented them from closing the gap. The Cougars held on to take the opening set, 25-22.
Farmington responded with energy in set two, opening on a 4-1 run to set the tone. The Tigers soon flipped the script with a 15-10 advantage of their own, forcing a Lakeville timeout. A few miscues let the Cougars claw back within one, but a momentum-shifting block by Andrew Kaliev and a thunderous kill from TJ Martin helped Farmington finish strong. The Tigers evened the match with a 25-20 set two win.
Set three was all Farmington. Behind dominant net play from Brayden Kemmet, the Tigers surged to an 8-2 lead. Lakeville burned both timeouts trying to slow the momentum but couldn't find an answer. Martin, Kaliev, and Kemmet proved too much to handle as Farmington rolled to a 25-13 win.
Lakeville South regrouped in set four, keeping pace early before Farmington pulled ahead again, 15-10. The Cougars mounted a late push to tie things up at 24-24, but the Tigers stayed composed. Kaliev came through once more with the final point, sealing the set 26-24 and the match 3-1.
