Minnetrista, Minn. – On April 8th, the Farmington Tigers boys' volleyball team had another first- their first-ever bus trip, traveling to Minnetrista to take on the Mound-Westonka Hawks.
In set one, the Tigers overcame early serving struggles by leaning on dominant front-row play from Isaac Albrecht and TJ Martin. Albrecht capitalized on multiple overpasses, while Martin helped ignite the offense from the outside. Farmington took the opener 25-20.
The second set followed a similar script, with serving errors continuing to challenge the Tigers—seven total in the set. But Farmington caught fire behind junior Nick Thompson, who delivered five clutch aces to swing momentum. Junior Brayden Kemmet added four kills out of the middle, battling through one of the toughest match ups Farmington had of the night. The Tigers edged out the Hawks in extra points, 27-25.
Coming off a five-set heart breaker in their season opener, Farmington entered the third determined to close it out. Albrecht fueled an early run with three more aces, while Martin and Andrew Kaliev each tallied four kills. Kaliev sealed the sweep with a powerful game-winning kill, as the Tigers took set three 25-22 and the match 3-0.
