PRIOR LAKE, Minn. – After a hard-fought five-set loss to Eagan last Thursday, the Farmington Tigers bounced back with a strong performance on the road, defeating Prior Lake 3-1. The Lakers entered the match riding high after an impressive week, upsetting #5 Shakopee and sweeping Burnsville.
Farmington came out firing in set one, racing to a 5-0 lead and forcing a quick Prior Lake timeout. Junior Isaac Albrecht ignited the Tigers with aggressive serving, helping extend the lead to 10-0 and burning the Lakers' final timeout. Senior TJ Martin anchored the net play, and although Prior Lake battled back, the Tigers held on for a 25-23 win.
Set two was a tightly contested battle. After a brief 9-8 Farmington lead, neither team led by more than two until the Tigers edged ahead 20-17. Both sides showcased efficient side-out offense, but a clutch ace from Jacob Graham gave Farmington a 23-18 cushion. The Tigers capitalized, closing out the set 25-19.
The Lakers flipped the script in set three, storming to a 12-3 lead. Farmington responded with a 6-2 run, but the gap proved too wide, and Prior Lake secured the set 25-16.
With the momentum in Prior Lake's favor, the Tigers regrouped in set four. Down 5-8 early, Farmington surged ahead 15-11 behind junior Brayden Kemmet's steady tempo and net presence. The Lakers pulled within one at 17-16, but senior Andrew Kaliev stepped up to steady the Tigers. With a slim 18-16 lead, Kayden "The Ace" Chant took the service line and delivered three consecutive aces, extending the lead to 21-16. Farmington rode that wave to a 25-20 win, sealing the 3-1 match victory.
