Tigers Take Hopkins To The Wire In Season Opener

An electric back-and-forth contest greeted us for the opener of the Men's basketball season. The Tigers led at halftime, but eventually fell to Hopkins, 86-80.

The Tigers were incredibly balanced scoring with five different players in double figures. Baiden Bean led the way with 20 points, but was more contained in the second half as opposed to his 14-point outburst in the first half.

The Tigers led 38-31 at the halftime break, and led by as many as 10 in the second half, but could not contain the lights-out shooting of Hopkins' sophomore guard Anthony Smith, who went off for 33 points including six triples and 21 points dropped in the second half alone.

The Tigers fought hard and put on a great offensive effort, but eventually came up short. They will head on the road next week for contests on Tuesday and Thursday as they look for their first win.
