Tigers and Cougars Battle In Major SSC Contest

Farmington Boys Basketball welcomed Lakeville South to FHS on Friday, January 27 for a big time SSC and Section 1 AAAA match up.

Farmington came into the game looking to end a two-game losing streak after a 1-point loss at Prior Lake and a 6-point loss to SSC leader Shakopee.

Lakeville South entered the game also looking for a win after dropping a SSC game to Eastview on Tuesday. The Cougars defeated Shakopee 80-64 the week prior.

The Tigers came out of the gate sluggish allowing South to build a 9-0 lead early. Farmington managed to pick up the pace going on a 13-2 run to earn their first lead of the game.

The game remained back and forth through the end of the first half. South would take a 24-23 lead into the locker room.

The second half of the game would remain close as both teams traded the lead throughout the half. With a 52-51 lead and the ball out of bounds, the Tiger defense came up big as South was called for a 5-second call and turned the ball over.

Farmington would bring the ball up trailing by 1 with :39 remaining in the game. A Baiden Bean drive resulted in a tipped ball out of bounds in favor of the Tigers, however, they would turn it over on the inbound play resulting in an uncontested bucket for the Cougars and the 54-51 lead.

After a timeout, another inbound play would result in another Tiger turnover.

After South missed the front end of a 1-and-1, Bean would attempt one final deep three pointer in an attempt to tie the game, however, it was off the mark.

Lakeville South would earn the victory, 54-51, over the Tigers.
