Big Night for Caven and Woody but Not Enough for the Battle of Flagstaff.
Flagstaff Avenue- The Tigers closed the regular season by traveling north on Flagstaff to face the Eastview Lightning. In set one a few missed serves led to an early Lightning lead and a Tiger timeout. Bouncing back from a 4-point deficit Farmington tied set one 11-11. Eastview took a 7-point lead 23-16, following a timeout. Farmington rallied back on a 7-0 run tying the game at 23. A battle to the end, Eastview took set one 26-24.
Set two was not as close, Farmington took an early lead and stepped on the gas. Forcing Lightning timeouts with a lead of 9-5 and again at 22-12, there was no answer. With all the momentum in the gym the Tigers took set two 25-13.
Set three was the complete opposite, Eastview established an early lead 9-5 forcing the first Tiger timeout. Without any luck getting out of the slump, Farmington used their second timeout down 6-15. Eastview finished the set on a 10-6 run winning 25-12.
Set four was the expected rollercoaster. Close game early with a 5-5 tie turned into a 9-5 Eastview lead. The Lightning stretched their lead to seven, winning 17-10. Farmington with another run brought the set within one, 19-20. Eastview shut the doors, responding back to the run, not giving up another point and winning the match in the third set 25-19.
The Tigers were led defensively by Elexis West. Season high kills by both Sabrina Caven (16) and Becca Woody (15). Maddy Dombeck had 5 as well as Taylor Hagedorn. Becca Woody also collected 4 aces. Maddy Dombeck with 37 set assists.
Final Score - Eastview defeats Farmington 26-24, 13-25, 25-12, and 25-19.
