Dombeck Leads Tigers to Victory Along with School Record and Major Accolade
Farmington, MN- It's homecoming week in Farmington and I can't name a better way to start it off other than facing a non-conference, section opponent with the amazing band blaring in the stands and beautiful choir singing the national anthem.
Tigers were cooking in the first set creating a 15-10 lead forcing Owatonna to take their first timeout of the match. Farmington didn't let up, increasing their lead all the way to 18-11. Huskies went back and forth to 20-13 until they went on a 5-0 run. The Tigers won set one 25-18 with a kill by Ramsie Witt and a set assist by Maddy Dombeck. This last set assist did not only lead to a kill and a Tiger first set victory but also to Maddy Dombeck's 2,000th career set assist.Â
Farmington started two up 4-1 until the Huskies snuck back in ending up taking a 9-4 on an 8-0 run. While the Huskies kept control the Tigers established their second lead of the match 16-15. With 7 ties and 6 lead changes the Tigers fought till the end winning set two 26-24.
With ALL the momentum in the gym the Huskies quieted the crowd quickly taking a 6-1 lead. Owatonna grew their lead all the way to 13-5 until the momentum shifted back in the Tigers favor. Point by point the Tigers scratched and clawed their way back, tying the game at 22-22. Farmington won set 3 and the match 26-24.
Jada Henrikson led the Tigers with 8 kills, Becca Woody with 7, Taylor Hagedorn with 5 and Ramsie Witt with 4. Elexis West was on fire from the serving line collecting 4 aces, Maddy Dombeck with 3 herself. Dombeck collected 23 set-assists which puts her career total at 2,011 which is a school record.Â
