In a Roller Coaster of a Match, #5 Tigers Drop their Last Game to #4 Mayo.
Rochester MN- #5 seeded Farmington Tigers took on #4 seeded Rochester Mayo Spartans Wednesday night at Mayo High School in Rochester Minnesota.
The 4th-seeded Spartans took an early lead in set one leading 7-1 before Farmington exhausted their first timeout. The Tigers, bringing it within 3 points, couldn't gain any more momentum, dropping set one 17-25.
In set two the Tigers took an early lead themselves forcing a Mayo timeout leading 11-5. Mayo took another timeout down 8-16, but gained no ground as Farmington took the second set handedly 25-12.
Set three was nothing short of a roller coaster. The Tigers started right where they left off leading 15-3 before getting too comfortable. Mayo then went on a 19-2 run to lead 22-17 prior to winning set three on an ace serve 25-20.Â
Farmington, looking for answers, found none in set four and was forced to use two early timeouts. The Tigers dropped the match, and set four 15-25.
The Tigers were led defensively by Elexis West. The Tigers were led in kills by Becca Woody with 12, Sabrina Caven with 9, Jada Henrikson with 7, and Ella McAbee with 5. Maddy Dombeck had 3 kills as well as 20 set-assists. Dombeck and Mya Sharp with 3 aces each.
Final Score - Rochester Mayo defeats Farmington 25-17, 12-25, 25-20, and 25-15.
