Farmington, Minn. -- It was a wild one in Farmington, with the Tigers falling on the hardwood 59-57 to Rochester Mayo.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead thanks to great defense, but had initial trouble from beyond the arc. They trailed by three heading into halftime.
The Tigers eventually caught fire from deep which helped propel them into a strong second half surge. Unfortunately, missed free throws are going to be the story of the game. The Tigers shot 7/15 from the charity stripe and some key misses toward the end helped put the Spartans in a position to win.
With one second left on the shot clock and 2.8 left on the game clock, Mayo drew up the perfect play to spring loose their PF for a final-second uncontested layup for the win out of a timeout.
The Tigers had four different scorers reach double figures with
Gianna Carpentier and
Ashley Harrison leading the way with 13 points. The Tigers fall to 1-1 on the season.
