The Farmington Tigers' (17-11, 10-8 SSC) 2022-23 campaign has come to an end after a tough 70-55 loss to Lakeville South (17-11, 10-8 SSC) in the Section 1 AAAA semifinal game.
On paper, and one the court, the two teams were about as evenly matched as possible. The Tigers and Cougars had split games this season. Lakeville South earned a victory over Farmington on January 27 defeating the Tigers 54-51. Farmington avenged the loss in the pair's second meeting beating South 48-39 on February 28.
Baiden Bean lead the team with 18 points.
Cole Wilcek contributed 14 points.
Connor Todd and
Robby Conover scored 6 points each.
Brandon Hrncir scored 4 points.
Farmington struggled in the game's first half only shooting 32% from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, South shot 51.2% from the field at 62.2% from three-point land. Farmington would score the game's first bucket to lead 2-0, however, would not regain the lead throughout the night. The Tigers would pull within 5 as the half neared its end, but South would lead 21-34 at the break.
Farmington picked up the pace in the second half and closed the gap to just 6 points but were not able to capture the lead. Each time the Tigers would tighten the Cougars' lead, Lakeville South would pull away.

Robby Conover all played their final game as a Tiger on Saturday night.
In the last two years, this group of seniors have contributed to a combined 38-19 record. The 2021-22 season produced the most wins in a season in the history of the boys basketball program.
Farmington Boys Basketball kicks off the 2023-24 season on Friday, December 1, 2023 when they host Rochester Century at Farmington High School.
