Tigers Win the Battle of Flagstaff

FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Tigers hosted the Eastview Lightning for the highly anticipated battle of Flagstaff. In a memorable regular-season finale, Farmington honored its senior players: Jada Henrikson, Mya Sharp, Abby Springer, Elizabeth Acker, Ramsie Witt, Kate Martin, Nikolina Opp, and Cali Zwiefel. The gym buzzed with excitement, amplified by the presence of the Farmington Football team, fresh off a big win against Burnsville.

In set one, the Tigers initially surged ahead, but Eastview fought back with some aces and key errors from Farmington, tying the set at 15. Sophomore Braelyn Hendrickson showcased her defensive skills, putting up a monster block while also finding offensive gaps. With a scrappy effort from Eastview, the Lightning clinched set one 25-23.

Seeking to regain momentum, the Tigers struck first in set two, quickly establishing an seven-point lead. With several aces from sophomore Taylor Hagedorn, Farmington maintained control and secured the set 25-20.

Set three saw the Tigers take another early lead, but Eastview refused to back down. In a fiercely contested set, Farmington edged out the Lightning 25-23, taking a 2-1 match lead. However, the Tigers couldn't close out the match in set four, despite multiple opportunities. Eastview pushed the match to a decisive fifth set by winning 29-27.

The stakes were high with senior night and section seeding on the horizon, the fifth set was electric. Farmington jumped out to an early lead, but Eastview struck back to take a 12-11 advantage. Hagedorn found openings in the Lightning defense, while Henrikson and Sabrina Caven kept attacking aggressively. Ultimately, Hagedorn's swing off the block secured a thrilling 19-17 victory in the fifth set, winning the match 3-2.
