#1 Cougars Drop #4 Tigers in Section Semi-Finals

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – On October 30th, the #1 ranked Lakeville South Cougars, top seed in section 1AAAA, faced off against the #4 seeded Farmington Tigers in an electrifying playoff match. The contest highlighted the competitive spirit of Minnesota high school volleyball.

Set one was a fierce battle, with both teams showcasing impressive defense and long rallies. The Cougars seized momentum with a series of strategic plays, clinching the set 25-19. Despite strong performances from Farmington's Addison Otto and Taylor Hagedorn, Lakeville South emerged victorious.

The second set mirrored the intensity of the first, as Lakeville initially established a 19-12 lead. However, Farmington fought back, driven by Otto's three kills and Lila Johannsen's two aces, closing the gap with a fierce kill-for-kill effort. Ultimately, the Tigers fell just short, losing 25-18 and finding themselves down 0-2 in the match.

In set three, Lakeville South's in-system tempo proved too much for Farmington. Despite Elexis West's outstanding defense, including five key digs, the Tigers struggled to keep pace. The Cougars accelerated through the set, securing a commanding 25-13 win and completing the match sweep at 3-0.

Lakeville South's fast-tempo play and resilient defense showcased why they are the top team in the state, while Farmington demonstrated heart and tenacity throughout the match.
