FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls basketball team started their 2024-25 season in dominant fashion, defeating the Owatonna Huskies 62-36 on Friday night at Farmington High School. The Tigers were fueled by a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense, securing an early lead and never looking back.

Farmington set the tone early, racing to a 29-13 lead by halftime with crisp ball movement and relentless defensive pressure. The Tigers continued to dictate the pace in the second half, outscoring the Huskies 33-23 while limiting Owatonna to just 21.7% shooting from the field.
The Tigers capitalized on turnovers, scoring 20 points off Owatonna's 23 giveaways, and dominated inside, tallying 26 points in the paint. On the glass, Farmington's strong rebounding performance included 15 offensive boards, leading to 12 second-chance points.
TOP TIGERS
- Gianna Carpentier: Led all scorers with 16 points while adding to the team's defensive presence.
- Carly Olson: Scored 13 points and provided a steady presence on both ends of the floor.
- Ashley Harrison: Contributed 7 points and was key in transition.
- Ali Simonson: Chipped in 7 points to round out Farmington's balanced scoring attack.
TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
Farmington's defensive effort was on full display, forcing 23 turnovers and limiting the Huskies to just 10 points in the paint. The Tigers also showcased depth, with seven players contributing points and making an impact across the stat sheet.

The Tigers will look to build on their strong start when they travel to face the Stillwater Ponies on Tuesday, November 26 at Stillwater High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
