Farmington, Minn. -- The Farmington Tigers boys track and field team put on an impressive performance at the Ron Thelen Invitational on Thursday, May 16. Hosted by Farmington High School, the Tigers secured a second-place finish out of six competing teams, showcasing their depth and talent across various events.
In the sprints, Ivan Ruiz led the Tigers in the 100 meters, placing sixth with a personal record of 11.59 seconds. Myles Olson followed in twelfth place at 11.71 seconds. The 200 meters saw Kingsley Obikwelu take second with a personal record of 22.90 seconds, while McKenzie Donlan and Elliot Adjetey-Adje placed fifth and seventh respectively.
In the middle distances, the Tigers were dominant in the 800 and 1600 meters. Adam Johnson and Mason Sullivan finished second and third in the 800 meters with personal records, and Andrew Crisp took first place in the 1600 meters with a season-best 4:36.75, closely followed by Sullivan and Johnson.
The 3200 meters featured a strong showing from freshman Thomas Crisp, who finished second with a personal record of 11:00.83. In the hurdles, Logan Lindstrom placed fourth in the 110m hurdles with a personal record of 16.68 seconds and third in the 300m hurdles, supported by strong performances from Cody Rezny and Jameson Smith.
The relay teams showcased Farmington's collective strength. The 4x100 relay team took first place with a time of 43.92 seconds, and the 4x400 relay team also secured first with a time of 3:32.40. The field events saw notable performances from Hunter Harris, who won the long jump at 20-01.75 and placed second in the high jump with a mark of 6-00.00.
In the throwing events, Max Speratos led the way with a third-place finish in the shot put, throwing 43-01.50, while Layne Johnson and Killian Kuegah-Choun scored points in both the shot put and discus, with Johnson reaching a personal record in the discus at 115-01.
On the girls side, the Tigers performed equally as well also placing second among six competing teams at their home meet.
In the 100 meters, the Tigers had a solid showing, with Jillian Hagman leading the team in 23rd place with a time of 14.01 seconds. The 200 meters saw a standout performance from Marianah Scott, who took first place with a time of 26.70 seconds, and Savanna Owens securing seventh with a season-best 27.90 seconds.
The 400 meters was another highlight for Farmington, with freshman Lauren Lansing capturing first place in 58.91 seconds, a personal record. Marianah Scott continued her strong day with a fifth-place finish in 1:02.22. In the distance events, Sophia Venning placed second in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:34.25, while Mariah Fenske dominated the 3200 meters, winning with a personal record of 11:16.26.
In the hurdles, Eden Krocak led the Tigers in the 300m hurdles, finishing sixth with a personal record of 55.02 seconds. The relay teams were also impressive, with the 4x400 relay team taking first place in 4:08.95 and the 4x800 relay team winning with a time of 10:11.11.
Farmington's field events were highlighted by strong performances in the shot put and discus. Jeanette Green won the shot put with a throw of 34-10.00, followed by Kate Martin in second place and Jada Henrikson in third. Henrikson also claimed victory in the discus with a throw of 110-04, while Martin placed third.
In the jumps, Rebecca Woody finished second in the pole vault, clearing 9-00.00, and also placed 14th in the long jump with a personal record of 14-00.75. The high jump saw Jaedin Boyd finish 13th with a mark of 4-04.00.
