FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers boys and girls track & field teams will kick off their 2025 season at the Gopher Classic Indoor Track & Field Meet, hosted by the University of Minnesota Men's & Women's Track & Field teams at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse in Minneapolis. The Tigers will compete in Session 1 on Friday, March 21, from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Meet Preview
The Gopher Classic serves as an early-season test for the Tigers, providing an opportunity to compete against strong programs from across the state. Farmington will join a competitive field that includes Minnetonka, Prior Lake, East Ridge, Mounds View, Rochester Century, Shakopee, Apple Valley, and more.
Athletes will participate in a range of events, including sprints, distance races, relays, and field events. The meet will use a rolling time schedule, with girls competing first in each event, followed by boys. Notably, competitors in field events—including the shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault—will be granted unlimited attempts during the allotted time.
Since the Gopher Classic is a time trial meet (a scrimmage), athletes will not wear school-issued uniforms per MSHSL rules. However, they will be encouraged to wear apparel identifying Farmington High School for recognition by spectators and officials.
