Eagan, Minn. -- Farmington High School's track and field teams competed at the South Suburban Conference championship meet held at Eagan High School on Wednesday and Thursday. Both the girls and boys teams delivered strong performances in a highly competitive environment.
The girls 4x800m relay team, consisting of Sophia Venning, Lindsey Woestehoff, Brylee Cavanaugh, and Lauren Lansing, secured a 5th place finish with a time of 9:48.41. In the boys 4x800m relay, Mason Sullivan, Andrew Crisp, Adam Johnson, and Caleb Morris took 4th place with a time of 8:15.62. The girls 4x200m relay team of Savanna Owens, Ellie Helgemoe, Casey Johnson, and Zavieanna Johnson placed 9th, clocking in at 1:51.02, while the boys 4x200m relay team of Brock Wyandt, Brandon Everett, Kingsley Obikwelu, and Myles Olson finished 3rd with a time of 1:30.14.
In individual events, Mariah Fenske shined in the girls 1600m run, placing 2nd with a time of 5:10.60. Sophia Venning and Lindsey Woestehoff also competed in the event, placing 8th and 9th, respectively. On the boys side, Mason Sullivan finished 14th in the 1600m run with a time of 4:42.81.
Marianah Scott showed her speed in the girls 400m dash, securing 5th place with a time of 59.73. McKenzie Donlan placed 4th in the boys 400m dash, clocking in at 50.48. Emma Oden excelled in the girls 300m hurdles, finishing 3rd with a time of 47.51. Lauren Lansing became the SSC champion in the girls 800m run with an impressive time of 2:16.95.
In the sprints, Marianah Scott placed 5th in the girls 200m dash with a time of 26.48, while Brock Wyandt finished 8th in the boys 200m dash with a time of 23.06. Mariah Fenske claimed another title for Farmington by winning the girls 3200m run with a time of 11:07.50, while Mackenzy Lippold placed 13th in the same event. Andrew Crisp competed in the boys 3200m run, finishing 9th with a time of 9:56.73.
In the field events, Becca Woody placed 5th in the girls pole vault with a vault of 9-00.00. Hunter Harris narrowly missed out on first place in the boys long jump, finishing as the runner-up with a jump of 21-02.75, less than an inch behind the winner. Jada Henrikson showcased her strength in the girls discus throw, placing 5th with a toss of 116-10, and she also placed 7th in the shot put with a throw of 34-08.50.
Overall, the Farmington girls' team placed 7th in the conference with a total of 62 points, while the boys' team placed 9th with 31.33 points. The meet highlighted the depth and talent of Farmington's athletes across various events.
